Nepal defeted by seven wickets

West Indies took the plate championship of the U-19 World Cup with a seven wicket win over Nepal on Saturday. In the match Played in Malaysia defending champion Nepal won the toss and left a target of 74 runs in 25.3 overs. West Indies chased the target in 14.2 overs with seven wickets in hand.
Amrit Bhattarai took two consolation wickets. West Indies pace attack took advantage of Nepal’s fragile batting. Nepal’s batting failed in the final as well as the 18 extra runs it got was a run more the highest run scored by a batsmen in the match. Sagar Khadka top scored with 17 runs of 55 balls. He was the only batsmen to reach double figures. Opener Mahesh Chhetri got out in the third ball of the first over without scoring a run.
Anil Mandal then edged down the leg side to keeper Devon Thomas in the last ball of the second over at the time Nepal had only four runs on the board. Gyanendra Malla was the next batsmen to return to the pavilion. Nepal lost its fourth wicket when Rom Shrestha was caught by DC Thomas of Dawes’s ball.
Skipper Paras Khadka tried to counterattack hitting a couple of fours but survive the West Indies fast bowlers for long Both the skipper and the coach blamed the dismal batting performance as the cause of the loss.
The match was reduced to 27 overs due to rain.
