Nepal’s German Coach Thomas Flath announced a 23-member national football squad for the imminent Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge Cup qualifiers against Palestine, Macau and host Cambodia on Monday. The team which will play in Cambodia from May 24-28 mostly consist of younger players.
Coach Flath at the press conference said that he had selected the team after discussing the mater with Bhim Thapa, Upendra Man Singh and Balgopal Maharjan.
Parbat Pandey, Dipak Bhusal, Suman Subedi and Kiran Chemjong have been selected in the national squad for the first time.
Nepal Police Club’s Ananta Thapa has made a come back in the national side. While Nabin Neupane, Santosh Sahukhala,Yugal Kishore Rai have been axed. Striker Anil Gurung is sidelined due to a shoulder injury.
Flath said that criteria for the selection was based on the performance of the player.
Squad: Bikash Malla, Ritesh Thapa, Kiran Chemjong, Rakesh Shrestha, Chun Bahadur Thapa, Anjan KC, Biraj Maharjan, Lok Bandhu Gurung, Pradeep Maharjan, Bijaya Gurung, Parbat Pandey, Jumanu Rai, Nirajan Rayamajhi, Vishan Gauchan, Sagar Thapa, Sandeep Rai, Bikash Singh Chhetri, Nirajan Khadka, Raju Tamang, Suman Subedi, Deepak Bhusal, Ananta Thapa and Bharat Khawas.
