The government has decided to provide Rs 1 million each to 15 players of the Nepali cricket team that qualified for the ICC World T20.
A cabinet meeting on Monday took the decision and congratulated the players and the team for making the country proud.
Similarly, the government has decided to award Rs 500,000 to coach Pubudu Dassanayake and Rs 350,000 to four other officials of the team.
Nepal qualified for the ICC World T20 to be held in Bangladesh in March 2014 after defeating Hong Kong by five wickets last Wednesday during the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers held in the United Arab Emirates.
The National Sports Council (NSC) had forwarded a proposal to the government on Thursday to provide cash reward to the team members.
Nepal defeated the UAE by five wickets on Saturday to finish third in the qualifiers.
According to Minister for Information and Communications Madhav Paudel, who is also the government spokesperson, the government will direct the Ministry of Youth and Sports to present a plan on the development of physical infrastructure to hold international cricket tournaments and for the development of cricket in Nepal.
